Yarmouth plans to hit a home run this summer as we host the 2006 National Oldtimers Baseball Championship from August 4 - 7, 2006. Over 32 teams from across Canada are expected for an exciting weekend of good, old fashioned baseball. Between games, players and the public will be treated to a waterfront lobster boil, golf tournament, music and a weekend full of hospitality. (Spinoffs for local tourism operators are expected to be significant). Yarmouth last hosted this prestigious National tournament in 1994, and many players still have fond memories of time they played in Yarmouth. Baseball fields in many villages across Yarmouth County – such as Brazil Lake and Tusket - will echo with the crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd, and baseball the way it was meant to be played, from August 4 - 7, 2006. Don’t miss it. For more information, contact

Not sure if Babe Ruth ever played ball here but he loved coming here
to hunt and fish. Babe, center of picture above, also became
attached to Canada's Only official dog breed "The
Little River Duck Dog", and was instrumental in introducing them to
the USA.
He often hunted in the Quinan area. In Yarmouth he stayed in this house of Cliff Street. More information on the babe click here. Return to
